I have to admit – every day I am living in St.Gallen I love it more and more. Over the past two and a half years it has become my home. I noticed that when I travel and people ask me where I am from, my immediate answer is: “from Switzerland”. Even though, Munich is my hometown and remains the place where my roots are, where my family lives, and where I grew up, St.Gallen has become my home now. In German I would say that Munich is “meine Heimat” (or rather “dahoam”) and St.Gallen is “mein Zuhause”. When talking to others I noticed that a lot of people – especially Germans and Swiss – find this weird, while I met a Brit living in Sweden, who said “I am from Sweden” after two months in Gothenburg. Anyway.
I am looking forward to contributing some stories to “100 things I love about Switzerland” or www.100heart.ch. This blog was spontaneously started on a bus ride between St.Gallen train station and our house, and it collects stories about 100 things that are fantastic in Switzerland and make you fall in love with the country even more.
What do you love most about Switzerland? Happy sunny Sunday!
